RESIST/REVIVE/REPLENISH

A Digital Dream of an Indigiqueer Utopia

RESIST/REVIVE/REPLENISH is a digital showcase celebrating Indigenous Queer embodied joy, creativity, and self-expression. Curated and Directed by Kelsey Kanatan Wavey, it features 3 stunning and unique performances by DJ OShow, Lynx Chase and Nimkish. The sessions were filmed in collaboration with the performers and an all Indigenous-led production team in October 2021 at KW Studios in Vancouver, BC.

RESIST/REVIVE/REPLENISH runs 30 minutes.

In June, 2023 RRR was co-presented with UpintheAir Theatre during the rEvolver Festival, as part of INDIGENOUS EMERGENCE: TRIPLE FEATURE & COMMUNITY GATHERING, a celebration of the work of emerging and re-emerging Indigenous artists. The event featured three film and performance works centering Indigenous voices and perspectives, touching on everything from the power of queer Indigenous joy, to the absurdity of capitalism, to the satisfaction of smashing a piñata pope to bits.

DJ O Show (she/her)

Orene Askew, aka DJ O Show, brings energy and expertise to every event she DJ’s
and hosts. She brings professionalism and passion and remains true to her love
for hip hop and R&B, incorporating beats to ensure you never want to leave the
dance floor! O Show is Afro-Indigenous from the Squamish Nation, her AfroAmerican roots stem from Gary, IN, and she identifies as Two-Spirit.

Lynx Chase (they/them)

A true show pony at heart, Lynx Chase has always been passionate about movement and performance arts. Lynx has trained in a variety of disciplines ranging from Aerial Hoop, Silks, Contortion, Partner Acrobatics, Belly dance & Capoeira; however, it wasn’t until she discovered Pole Dancing in 2012 that she found her true vocation. It is her hope to continue to share her craft with the world by demonstrating the strength, sensuality, artistry, and grace that goes hand in hand with the art of pole and exotic dance.

Nimkish (they/them)

To fully immerse in the multitudes of Indigenous rising star Nimkish is to honour the past, look ahead to the future, and bask in the resplendent present all at once. The Vancouver-based marvel-in-the-making is fearless in her lyricism, confronting anti-Indigenous racism and colonial violence alongside other hard subjects like anxiety, grief and heartache. Her lyrics give affirmation to past pain while living in the moment. To some it may sound like escapism, to others it may sound like moxiedriven R&B-pop pulsing through the club. What’s certain is her fortitude — she’s an it-girl on a mission.
