The Council of Spider, Ant and Fly
In 2025, we journeyed back to ItKumcheen (Lytton) to collaborate with the Stein Valley Nlaka’pamux School and greater community on the Nlaka’pamux spektawl, The Council of Spider, Ant & Fly!
Formerly, there was no death in the world, and people did not know exactly what it was. Ant and Spider were very wise. They held a council with Fly. Spider said to Ant, ”You are cutting yourself in two with your tight belt. Soon you will die.”
In The Council of Spider, Ant and Fly, these three insects debate, reason, and contemplate whether death should or should not exist in the world. In the end, they must face the harsh consequences of their decision.
